What is the mental illness in Mr. Robot? ›

Main. Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a senior cybersecurity engineer at Allsafe Cybersecurity and a vigilante hacker. He has dissociative identity disorder and deals with other mental illnesses such as clinical depression and severe anxiety, which are partly responsible for his antisocial behavior and drug use.

Robot is his dead father and, worse, that he's a hallucination. The glaring similarity of these developments is the bedrock for many arguments online that Mr. Robot is a Fight Club ripoff. Both the film and TV show are toying with the audience by way of their protagonist's unreliable perspective.

Elliot was sexually abused by his father Edward Alderson (also Christian Slater). We come to this horrifying realization in one of the darkest ways possible. Vera spends all of “Proxy” trying to force either Elliot or Mr. Robot to explain the latter's existence.

That's one clue that much of what viewers saw reflected Elliot's unreliable perspective, which stemmed from mental and emotional ailments including depression, social anxiety, morphine addiction and, most crucially, dissociative identity disorder. Mr. Robot was revealed to be a delusion based on Elliot's dead father.

We can only list what the show has explicitly identified: social anxiety disorder, clinical depression, delusions and paranoia. He not is not autistic, nor is he schizophrenic, and he does not have hallucinations. A discussion of each of Elliot's illnesses is in his article.

Was Elliot's medical chart an Easter egg, because schizophrenia was never listed yet the audience kept assuming he was schizophrenia? Yeah, he was never diagnosed with schizophrenia. Again, Elliot self diagnoses himself with schizophrenia in the pilot, but I would not classify him as that.

Tyrell Wellick is a major antagonist in the USA Network drama series Mr. Robot. He is a high executive at the corrupt company E-Corp. Despite the fact that he works for the company whom the hacker group fsociety is targeting, he does not appear to act against them and only seems to act in his own interests.

Angela Moss was one of the secondary villainesses of the series Mr. Robot. She first started off as Elliot's childhood friend who happened to have lost her mother as well along with his father caused by E Corp's negligence.

Robot (Christian Slater) is not real — rather, he is a personality created by Elliot, resembling his deceased father. This is just one layer of Elliot's disassociative personality disorder; the final twist is that the person we have spent the most time with isn't the real Elliot, either.

Why does Elliot forget Darlene is his sister? ›

Their relationship is definitely one of the most crucial ones in the series. Elliot first meets Darlene in the fsociety facility (to which Mr. Robot led him), not remembering she was his sister or that he's ever even knew her, because of his amnesia.

Elliot and Mr. Robot discuss Elliot's falling out with his father: Elliot told his mother of his father's terminal illness, despite promising his father he would keep the illness secret. Mr. Robot pushes Elliot off a railing onto the rock-strewn beach below as punishment for not keeping his father's secret.

Throughout the first season of Mr. Robot, it was assumed that the omnipresent Whiterose was a man. When Whiterose first appears in episode eight, we discover that the leader of the world's most dangerous hacking collective is a transgender woman (played by Bd Wong) whose time is precious.

These flashbacks make it clear why Whiterose resents the establishment and the world around her and why she wants a machine that can turn back time and return to her everyone and everything that the world cruelly stole from her.

But Mr. Robot appeared and finally revealed the truth to Elliot: he wasn't in a parallel world, but a dream-like prison designed to contain Elliot Alderson's long-hidden personality. Yep, that's right. The version of Elliot we've known since the start is actually a spin-off identity, just like Mr.

There are several key scenes in the Season 2 opener that he has Multiple Dissociative Personality Disorder. Schizophrenia have delusions, hallucinations, and perhaps paranoia. MDPD are two or more identities that may or may not be aware of each other. Why is Elliot going to a psychiatrist in Mr.

“Mr. Robot” however delivers one of the most accurate depictions of this illness; the viewer sees the world through Elliot's eyes with all its delusions and confusion about what's real and what isn't.

Elliot was born on September 17, 1986. He suffers from dissociative identity disorder, clinical depression, delusions and paranoia. His internal life is revealed via voice-overs that provide insight into his mental state, his opinions of the people he encounters and the activity around him.

Robot is real, we think they're actually going somewhere to get drugs. Nope. It's revealed to be an elaborate hallucination with many different levels, almost like Inception. The next morning Elliot wakes up, somewhat recovered.
