Description[edit | edit source]
Five Nights at Sonic's was originally developed to contribute to an inside joke between TheCyVap and some of his friends in school. The game can easily be summed up to a down-scaled clone of Five Nights at Freddy's 1 with minor changes in the gameplay. The game's graphics are all hand-drawn, separating it from most fangames of the time.

Story[edit | edit source]
FNaS1 is not the beginning of the timeline, but it narratively kicks the story off. You play as Knuckles the Echidna, working the night shift at Sonic's Hero Pizza Palace from 12AM to 6AM. Your goal is to survive against the clones, who mysteriously turn evil at night. During your time there, you receive valuable information from Luigi, the previous night guard, via pre-recorded phone messages. During the final phone call on your fourth night, Luigi gets jumpscared by one of the clones and seemingly disappears.Knuckles works up to a seventh night in the restaurant, where he finally gets fired for not watching the Master Emerald, and supposedly leaving an odor in the building.
Gameplay[edit | edit source]
During the Nights[edit | edit source]
Each night goes from 12 AM to 6AM, with the whole period during approximately 6 minutes. There are 2 doors on each side of your office, where characters like Clone Sonic, Clone Mario, Clone Yoshi and Clone Tails can try to enter on their way to your office. Each door has a light and door button, the former shining a light on the side to show if someone's there, and the latter blocking the listed characters from entering. Hovering the mouse over a bottom bar also opens up the camera monitor, inside which you can change between a variety of cameras to keep track of the clones' movements. '15 Golden Sonic can also appear on the office if certain conditions are met, mostly a poster in the building being altered. In the 2.0 version of the game, there's also an invisible vent where Clone Sonic can enter through. For more information on the characters mechanics, check their respective pages.
Content[edit | edit source]
The game has 5 main nights, an extra 6th night, and a Custom 7th Night, where you can customize the characters' AIs to your liking. In the 2.0 version of the game, 15 Golden Sonic's AI is added to the selection. Also in that version, an Extras menu is added with portraits for the characters, their jumpscares, a Night Select, and a Gallery to visualize the different screens and their variations. Finally, the 2.0 version of the game has toggeable borders when using the Fullscreen option.
Completion[edit | edit source]
Its completion is shown through Golden Stars. You get them for the following requirements:
- Beating Night 5.
- Beating Night 6.
- Beating Night 7 with all characters at 20.
In the 2.0 version of the game, you were also able link your Gamejolt account to get trophies for the following achievements (prior to the 2.05 patch):
- Five Nights at Sonic's: Complete Night 5

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Unlike the rest of the series, FNaS 1's (1.0) graphics were originally drawn in Flipnote Studio for DSi, before being sent to a computer to be edited.
- For some reason, the game runs at a resolution of 500x500, a square. This is the only game in the series to run at this resolution.
- In the 1.0 version, the only notable difference between FNaS1 and FNaF1 is Sonic's behavior, as Sonic attacks in the same way Yoshi/Chica does instead of mimicking Freddy.
- The reason Mario characters were included was because TheCyVap didn't know how to draw other Sonic characters. This was reinforced by the fact that it made his version of FNaS unique from the other takes out there.
- In the game files, Golden Sonic's West Hall Corner poster image is named as "WHC_Red_Sonic_0", which is a remain to Golden Sonic originally being named Red Sonic and as the name suggest, he was red.
- In the 2.0 version, there are vents behind the posters scattered around the building, that Golden Sonic uses to hide from behind. Those same vents are also the way that Clone Sonic uses to enter the office if not looked at for long enough.
