Everything You Need To Know About The ‘Escape From Tarkov’ Wipe (2024)

After months of speculation and teases the next Escape From Tarkov wipe is almost here, with it potentially launching in the next few days. But as with every wipe there’s a lot of confusion as to what to expect.

With a delayed release date, a new format for end of wipe events and a potentially reduced new amount of content coming this wipe there are a few big changes that you need to be aware of if you plan to play during the first couple of days. Fortunately almost everything you need to know can be seen below.

When is the next Escape From Tarkov Wipe?

No official release date has been announced for the next Escape From Tarkov wipe, however we do know that it was initially announced as launching in August, with early August also being mentioned by the development team.

Before every wipe a series of events is launched in the game, with these typically starting around two weeks before the wipe takes place. The first of these events kicked off just over a week ago, which would suggest that the wipe is due this week. However this time the pre-wipe events have taken a new format with new quests being added and some events seemingly being skipped.

Wipes typically arrive on Thursdays, which means the next Escape From Tarkov wipe should launch on August 8. However, as we are still waiting for some pre-wipe events to take place it could arrive on August 15.

Will the Tarkov servers be down?

As with every major Escape From Tarkov patch we can expect some serious server downtime when the wipe finally arrives. This downtime will occur on the date of the wipe, so likely August 8, and typically starts early in the morning. The downtime will mean that Escape From Tarkov severs will be down and you will not be able to play the game at all until the servers come back up. For a wipe the servers are usually down for multiple hours, so it may not be until the afternoon or evening when we finally get a chance to play.

What is being added in the August Wipe?

Compared to other Escape From Tarkov wipes the August wipe is expected to be smaller than usual as a lot of the development team are working on content that will only be released when Tarkov hits 1.0. However, that doesn’t mean that the new wipe will be empty, with a few cool additions being made.

The biggest change is the addition of two new hideout sections, one of which allows you to dress up mannequins with your favourite loadouts and another that appears to be some kind of cultist ritual area. The developers have also teased other additions, such as a robot who will patrol your hideout.

There is also the recently revealed rework to the Factory map that was shown off at Twitchcon a few weeks ago. According to people who played it at the event the map is quite similar, with some routes above and below the main level being expanded and visual improvements being thrown in.

We also know that there will be at least a few new weapons arriving with the wipe, with the Uzi and M60 machine gun being shown off during the TarkovTV stream that revealed the wipe.
