There’s always someone on a screenwriting seminar board or a blog preaching about how shows were bigger before there were screenwriting fiction. Save The Cat ruined screenwriting! Syd Field ruined screenwriting! Aristotle ruined screenwriting! Conversely there have been screenwriting works of fiction for as long as there has been screenwriting.

The earliest screenwriting book I could find was published in 1910, and basically there is a future book in this Vintage Series which is from 1911… In spite of this I'll bet there were probably stories even before 1910. The year 1913 was a really great year for How To Write Script Books, and basically at least *four* published, as well as at least one superior published the later year!
